Fort Leith
The Centre is opposite Fort House which is a large public housing block contained within the walls of Fort Leith. The fort was built in 1779 to defend the Port of Leith. Most of the fort was demolished in the 1950's though the entrance and boundary walls remain.

Leith is currently undergoing changes and Fort Community Wing and the surrounding area is linked to many of these.
